ALL ABOUT Binders

John Galt offers many types of binders. There are 3 ring binders, screw-post binders, literature covers, scrapbooks, and various combinations of features. We feature turned edge construction, meaning a piece of covering material is wrapped around pieces of board. The covering materials include leatherette, leather, imitation leather, linen, printed stock, and specialty papers.

Covers may be foil stamped or blind debossed (stamping without foil, see White House, left), or optionally include medallions, engravings, or other items. Boards may be of various thicknesses, and the thickness is usually determined by the size of the binder. There are almost endless possibilities in this category, and we are flexible and open to new ideas.

Three ring binders have several important features such as ring size (e.g. 1”), ring style (such as regular or “D ring”), and ring color (like brass or nickel). See the MAC binder above for an example of D ring nickel finish. There are also options like hidden rivets, which provides a smooth spine by hiding the rivets holding the ring metal. Interior options include pockets, flaps (see White House above), disc holders, etc. and can be of virtually any material, including silk-like Moire.

Screw post binders hold documents through pressure, and can adjust to document thickness. They also look more “finished” and therefore look “higher end”. As an example, the Hyatt binder, above, uses suede leather cover, a metal plaque, and a screw-post design. The Palms binder above is a screw-post binder in simulated leather basketball material, while the Starbucks binder above is fitted with the same covering material and includes blank scrapbook pages.

Literature covers are covers that have a slit to accept printed material. These can be any size and made of virtually any material. The Merritt Woodwork binder above is an example of this product. Literature covers offer a way to customize literature delivery and make it easier for customers to keep the item on a bookshelf.
